A Message from Baba Ji

Sant Baba Amar Sing JiIn the last few months we have been going through a process of review of our work and the future direction it should take. This work is continuing and in the months and years ahead you will see reported through these pages and other resources available the changes that we have made in helping to lift people out of poverty.

I started out my work over thirty years ago quietly working away on educational projects help the poor in India. This was long before the governments of the G8 countries came together and thought about doing something to help the poor and cut the burden of debt of their countries.

Sadly, despite the good faith in which these commitments were made, not much has changed in the world, the poor are getting poorer, the rich getting richer and the state of the environment becoming a major concern with some countries doing more and others just about getting around to do something. So what's the future?

Our work has grown to all parts of India and with requests from Sikh communities in the United Kingdom, we successfully set up and established the Guru Nanak Sikh Schools These are our UK state funded schools and are ranked amongst the leading schools in the United Kingdom. I am please to announce that in New Zealand we have started work on our Primary School. This is being funded by the New Zealand government. More on this is mentioned in other sections of this site, providing information why these schools are important for us and other work we do.

IndividualsAll the work that I have initiated has been done on the basis to empower and educate the individual, giving them the tools, knowledge and the skills to make the changes in the world that are so much needed and to address the points I have observed above. It is by giving power to the individual, through knowledge and education - they will be able to bring about the changes in their lives and society, so much need yet which governments over the years have not been able to provide or properly address.

It is on these aspects that we concentrate our work. Last year we held a conference, inviting Civil Society Organisations, funding agencies and representatives from the Department for International Development The main issues that came up, described the poor levels of partnership working between Civil Society Agencies and NGO's. This goes against our grain, we are an Organisation that collectively works in partnership, we actively seek partnerships and it is through partnership working that we shall make a difference. Therefore please get in touch with us if you feel that we can work together towards the prosperity of those who are in most need.

Building WorksI thank my staff, volunteers, public and the sangat for all their help and support they have given to me and the Trust. Without their support we would not have been able to achieve so much and I thank them once again for all they have done and continue to do. Peace and God Bless.
